He was born in 1958 in Fundão and his creativity is manifested in a variety of media, including comic-books, painting and illustration. As such, he signed several works for children and for the written press, collaborating since 1988 with Diário de Notícias and the Exame magazine, among other publications. He recently showcased his artistic production in the painting’s area in various galleries in the country. The talent of João Vaz de Carvalho is recognized both nationally and internationally. Among the awards received throughout his career, the following are worth mentioning: an Honourable Mention in the World Press Cartoon 2010 in Sintra, and at the Eurofruitcartoonale, Sint Truiden, in Belgium, in 2011.
