Catarina Pestana is a designer and plastic artist, and is represented in many private collections, including that of Commander Joe Berardo, mentor of the largest Portuguese museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. She was born in Portugal and completed the course in Drawing and Painting at the National Society of Fine Arts. She then attended the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon and graduated in Communication Design from the Chelsea College of Art and Design, London. In England she collaborated with the renowned designer Peter Saville, among others. She returned to Lisbon to create the Dasein studio (2004-2012) and has since been a regular presence at exhibitions. She excels as a natural communicator and creator of images, and has developed several multidisciplinary projects, from illustration to social art, from video to sculpture, from performing arts to site specific installations. She has been collaborating with Vista Alegre and Bordallo Pinheiro since 2007, having signed three of the most appreciated collections of the VAA brand: Tchaikovsky, Fado and Fernando Pessoa heteronyms.
