ALMA DA VISTA ALEGRE

It had its name ratified by King John VI – the Vista Alegre Royal Porcelain Factory is almost 200 years old and its façade, which arose from the vision and entrepreneurship of José Ferreira Pinto Basto (1774-1839), welcomes visitors to Lugar da Vista Alegre, in Ílhavo. Housing Vista Alegre’s current museum, the old factory facilities top a boulevard punctuated by leafy trees and interspersed by a cobbled path. During spring, the landscape becomes idyllic for those working there or taking a walk; all thanks to the warm and cheerful contrast of the colors of the building, the land and the leaves, which grant a greater uniqueness to the spot when sunlight filters through. The unique charm of storks nesting in imposing chimneys adds a finishing touch to it all. In this yard, Vista Alegre’s soul is condensed through Beatriz Lamanna’s sensibility.
