Mestre Naguib

Naguib was born in Tete, in 1955. He studied at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes in Lisbon, complete his internship in Screen printing at the University of Cape, Mikaelis Art School in South Africa, and the conservation and restoration of works of art internship in Kunts Museum, Cologne, Germany, moreover he worked at the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Nothumbria in the United kingdom. Having started his artistic career in 1975, Naguib is now represented in numerous private collections and in several museums and institutions in Mozambique and abroad, including the Vatican, Ford Foundation and United Nations Headquarters (USA), the International Committee of the Red Cross Headquarters (Switzerland), Assembleia da República Portuguesa (Assembly of the Portuguese Republic - Portugal), University of Trieste (Italy), Matombo Gallery (Zimbabwe) and Lwini Foundation (Angola), among others. In 1998, Naguib was awarded with the Ordem Honorífica do Grau de Comendador da Ordem de Mérito (Honorary Degree of Merit) by the President of Portugal Jorge Sampaio.
